Natasha Chatziangeli is an industrial designer living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece. Observing people, nature, movements, ways of learning, social activities, reactions, words, she comes up with projects based on everyday life. She enjoys creating products, which can be personalized by their users, and Installations that leave space for storytelling. From research on modeling parameters for crowd simulation systems to the simple question “why should drawing books be used only by children?” she experiments with the designing process, combining science, technology and the arts. She got her diploma in Product and Systems Design Engineering, from Aegean University, on Syros Island department.

INSPIRATION:
I was trying to find an image that represents the greek summer and transform that in an object. Big sun, endless blue sea, clean sand, islands, transparent water. It was then about to remind myself of the very very first image that anyone has when he wakes up in Greece at summer time. It is the sunlight that passes easily even from the closed shutters through louvres. These louvres were translated into rings of plexiglass and cork.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Louvre light is a table lamp that casts no shadows on itself neither on surfaces around it, light passes through the material and causes diffusion. This diffusion plus the volume of the light, and the final aesthetic, can be changed accordingly by users' needs and preferences through a playful process, by simply changing the order of the rings Louvre light is made of. There are endless combinations, customisation, simple interaction, total control and safety.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
You can transform light's diffusion, volume and whole aesthetic by changing the order of the rings. Simply by taking them out and place them in different order. It is a totaly safe and playful activity, with a surprising result that makes you smile. After changing the order, the light gives you the feeling that it is you who actually has constructed it

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in May 2013 and finished at the end of June 2013. It was exhibited in Greek Design Good Design exposition in Athens, from November 28 to December 2, 2013 in Helexpo Palace, in an effort to promote greek design abroad.
