Everything around us is a result of design
The concept of Lommer was conceived in 2014 and materialized in April 2015 when two product designers Danai Gavrili and Alkioni Matsourdeli decided to collaborate, and thus founded Lommer.
Inspired by our love for experimentation with innovative materials and our passion for minimal aesthetics and timeless design, (we) create unique bags & accessories.
So, Lommer is an acronym from the words (we) LOve Materials (and we) MEet Requirements, which is the philosophy that the brand represents.
Our dream is to create contemporary and timeless designs that would be instantly recognizable and would make everyone who owns them feel special. Up until April 2015, we worked on giving our brand identity, setting its goals, finding what kind of products could stand in the global market, researching new materials and new production methods. All of these factors led to Lommer.
AWARDS
Proudly internationally awarded
In April 2016 we won our first design award, which was a Silver A' Design Award for (Fashion and Travel Accessories Design Category) for our tote bag, EvaTwo. A' Design Award and Competition aims to highlight the excellent qualifications of best designs, design concepts, and design-oriented products worldwide in all creative disciplines and industries. It is considered one of the most reputable design competitions worldwide.
In May 2018 came the second international distinction, an International Design Award 2017 for our remarkable backpack, EvaPack. The International Design Awards (IDA) exists to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design. At Lommer we believe there is always a different way to approach everyday things, whether it be from the absolute smallest to the absolute biggest. We believe that when we start with simple questions such as, why is this a certain way and what can we do to make it better, we immediately embark on a journey where we start seeing the world differently and exploring things around us in a unique way.
CONCEPTS
Materials we love
We LOve Materials and we mean it. Our research to different materials and designs that would designate us globally, led us to the development of a unique version of E.V.A. material, based on our specific requirements. Combining that with other pioneering materials such as seatbelts, sailing ropes, metallic chains, and PVC handles, we end up with eye-catching products. Our restless passion for new developments, makes us always be in search of new and unique materials & production methods.
DESIGN & PRODUCTIONS
Handmade in Greece
Every Lommer product is designed and produced in Greece by happy hands.
We choose our suppliers carefully, considering the high quality of the products we want to offer. We define the requirements of every part and we customize even the details. As a signature part of our customization, our snap buttons are produced exclusively for us by the manufacturing company YKK.
EXPERIENCE
“Love it. Own it. Become a #lommerlover.”
``Exploring things around us in a unique way``. Having faith in that, we would like our customers to play a significant role in the product that they will acquire. By offering some extra parts independently, the bag owner can choose and change these parts, creating unique combinations. That's what we call Lommer Experience. So, feel free to Lommer it!
MEET THE DESIGNERS
Danai & Alkioni
After Danai Gavrili acquired her Bachelor in Product Design (Middlesex University's program in Akto College), she continued and obtained a Masters degree in Design from Domus Academy (Milan), which she had got accepted for, with a scholarship. When she returned to Greece, she worked as a freelance designer, focusing on furniture.
Alkioni Matsourdeli studied Product Design at Akto College (Middlesex University's program) and Interior design at the Technical School of Athens. During her studies, she worked as the assistant of Yianni Bavarezo's interior designer. After finishing her studies, she worked as a freelance designer for a year and then co-founded the Museum of Greek Gastronomy, working there for approximately 2 years.
A three-month project at the Museum of Greek Gastronomy was the occasion where the two designers met for the very first time. Danai and Alkioni’s great ‘chemistry’ in working together and their common passion for design led them to create Lommer and make a difference to the design world, together.
