In a 19th century building on the hill of Kardiani Village overlooking the Aegean sea, Living Theros opened its doors in 2018 and has been welcoming guests from all over the world since then.
Kardiani is a quintessential Cycladic village unspoiled by mass tourism with jaw-dropping views, fountains and vegetation that brings together the sea and the mountains. I
t was the ideal location for a hotel like Living Theros reflecting the same soulful Cycladic heritage and aesthetics.
There are six suites in total, all different from each other. They are the byproduct of the restoration of a former house along with the “we do not tear anything down” approach of both the architectural and design team.
During this process, lots of the original elements of the house such as the marble sinks and the terrazzo floors were kept intact whilst combined with Tinian elements like the island’s famed green marble and typical patterns that resemble the pigeon houses - the trademark of the island.
Living Theros is effortlessly cool. The cozy rooms are bathed in sunlight and they are minimally decorated with lots of natural accents.
There is a subtle luxury approach that translates into high quality amenities that cater the needs of a well-traveled audience.
One will find quality mattresses, fluffy bathrobes, rainfall showers, flatscreen TVs with netflix, bluetooth speakers and espresso machines with complimentary capsules.
The breakfast basket is filled to the brim with greek and local products. Above all, when at Living Theros one will feel a genuinely tailor-made experience.
One might wonder what Living Theros stands for? The people behind it visualized a space that people would feel incorporated into, that infused a sense of belonging. A place where you live, not just stay.
That is the main attribute of this hotel, it’s not just an establishment but a living entity. It is built amongst local residencies giving the “ like a local” traveling mentality a whole new meaning.
Here in the mornings, when you head out, you say goodmorning to mr. Antonis, the neighbor who is well over 90.
Living Theros is a way of life, slow, authentic, with local flavor and color, sun-soaked that celebrates life and respects the land and its natural surroundings.
It invites you to experience a lively summer, or a lively theros as the locals would say
