According to an Ancient Greek myth, the gods and goddesses had their sandals made on the beautiful island of Crete by a gifted sandal maker who enriched each pair with magical powers. Famous for having made the flying sandals for Hermes, the sandal maker also embellished them with his personal signature… a “golden wing” buckle.
Ancient Greek Sandals are handmade locally by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques that have existed for centuries. A raw, yet feminine aesthetic distinguishes this new sandal brand. The chemical free, natural tan leather ages beautifully with time and wear.
Christina and Nikolas’s love for Ancient Greece and its history, combined with their individual technical skills naturally led to the creation of ‘Ancient Greek Sandals’. The collection is inspired by ancient Greek Gods and myths, pottery, jewellery and sculpture.
CHRISTINA MARTINI, CO-FOUNDER / DESIGNER
Born and raised in Greece, Christina Martini a BA (Hons) graduate in Footwear Design and Product Development from the presti- gious Cordwainers College (2000). Christina has previously worked as a shoe designer for Balenciaga (2008-2010), Louis Vuitton and Iris srl. After giving birth to her first child she moved with her family to the island of Corfu in Greece.
NIKOLAS MINOGLOU, CO-FOUNDER / CEO
Nikolas was born in London and raised in Greece. A BSc graduate from Tufts University and an MBA graduate from Babson College (USA), in 2006 returned to Athens and took over the family’s well established footwear business. In 2010, he also founded myshoe.gr, the leading online shoe retailer in Greece.
